User guide

Set up Cheetools.

Follow this guide once, then launch supported games through Cheetools whenever you want a verified optimization session.

1. Requirements

  • Android 8.0 or newer. Game Mode interventions generally require Android 12+, with FPS interventions on Android 13+.
  • Official Shizuku from its trusted distribution source for advanced controls.
  • A selected installed game and firmware that exposes Android Performance Game Mode.
Cheetools does not require root. Root-only commands, CPU/GPU overclocking and thermal-limit bypasses are not included.

2. Install Cheetools

  1. Tap Download APK on this website.
  2. Open the downloaded file.
  3. If Android blocks it, allow “Install unknown apps” only for the browser or file manager you used.
  4. Install and open Cheetools. Disable that installer permission afterward if preferred.

3. Set up official Shizuku

  1. Install and open Shizuku.
  2. On Android 11+, enable Developer options and Wireless debugging.
  3. Use Shizuku’s pairing instructions, then tap Start.
  4. Return to Cheetools. Its engine status should say Shizuku ready.

Shizuku must be started again after a phone reboot unless your rooted setup starts it automatically.

4. Grant requested access

Cheetools requests access only when a related feature needs it:

  • Notifications: shows active boost and restoration status.
  • Gaming DND: temporarily requests priority-only notifications.
  • Shizuku: executes package-validated Game Mode operations.
  • Usage access: may be used to track the foreground game and end a session safely.
  • Overlay: used only when you enable the optional gaming sidebar.

5. Add a game

  1. Open Games in Cheetools.
  2. Select an installed game from the available application list.
  3. Return to Booster and select that game.

Only apps installed on the device can be selected. Availability does not guarantee that the developer or OEM permits every intervention.

6. Configure and boost

  1. Select the Performance profile.
  2. Choose 90% resolution and Game default for your first stability test.
  3. Keep System default rendering first. Test ANGLE separately.
  4. Tap Review Boost and read every supported or unavailable action.
  5. Tap Boost & Play only when the review matches your choices.
Game default removes Android's FPS throttle. A game's internal frame policy, display, OEM and thermal conditions still control actual frame production. Reduced scale requires a game restart.

7. Restore settings

For a tracked Boost & Play session, Cheetools restores captured settings when the session ends. You can also open Restore Center and select Restore All Cheetools Changes. If Android reports that another app changed a value, Cheetools asks whether to keep the newer value or restore the captured original.

8. Troubleshooting

“No verified actions”

Confirm Performance is selected, Shizuku is running and approved, and the game advertises Performance Game Mode. Some OEMs remove the AOSP intervention service.

Game stays at 60 FPS

The game is probably choosing 60 FPS internally. Cheetools leaves FPS automatic, but cannot rewrite a game engine’s own frame policy.

Visual glitches with ANGLE

Restore the transaction and choose System default. ANGLE is a compatibility path, not universally faster.
